Nanyamka Payne!!!!!! It was so hard to judge this contest, I received so many great entries so I had help picking the winner. Nanyamka’s submission was in honor of her sister, it was so touching yet revealing what photography means in her world through her eyes. Here are her words;
Have you ever heard the catch-phrase “a picture is worth a thousand words?” What about the one-word pictures that can capture a person’s soul. Photographer is able to pick-up on what the naked eye can’t see, but with the help of a lens it becomes clearly magnified. According to dictionary.com the word lens, this is a – noun.A piece of transparent substance, usually glass, having two opposite surfaces either both curved or one curved and one plane, used in an optical device in changing the convergence of light rays, as for magnification, or in correcting defects of vision. When you gaze about the finished work of photography you see what appears to be a “picture perfect image.” But what you don’t realize is the work that goes into making a photographer’s work may appear priceless. Over the years I’ve watched my oldest sister as she embarked on the dating scene only with open eyes but with a willing heart. Every aspect of
relationships wants to be captured by a photo, memorabilia, and a way to relive an event in the past even for a moment. Remember when I said “what about the photos with one-word expressions?” I recall her hurt, pain, deceit, loneliness, trouble, abuse and harm. In July 2009, she’ll be photographed as the Bride-To-Be to a man of God, that’s loving and willing to give his all for her. The photographer will use a lens to photo a picture of love, and although its not “picture perfect” it won’t have to touch-up or Photoshop this HAPPY ENDING!
So Congratulations Nanyamka, I am looking forward to our session.
And since post are always better with a pic, check out this balancing act.
